Out of 1.39 lakh students, only 10k in voters list

In a bid to ensure 100 per cent enrolment of eligible college students in the voters list, Vellore district collector addressed a meeting of nodal officers and campus ambassadors functioning in the 105 arts and science colleges in the district on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering, collector SA Raman said that though statistics revealed that 1.39 lakh students were eligible to join the voters lists, only 10,002 students have done this till date.

Calling on those present to act expeditiously to ensure that enrolment of all eligible students in the voters list was completed before the next elections, he said that the one-day training progamme was to train officials on enrolling prospective voters through the website www.nvsp.in or through mobile phones.

He also called on regional officers and tahsildars of the 13 taluks to visit the colleges to ensure this. Those present included DRO J Parthiban, Ranipet RDO Venusekaran and PA (General) S Narayanan.
