School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan has squarely dismissed any rumours on reopening schools in the state.

He was in a virtual press meet hosted at the Anna Centenary Library in Kotturpuram.

The discussions revolved around the minister's portfolio.

He also said it is the CM who will take the final call on reopening the schools.

But the school complexes are getting revamped to suit the new normal enforced by the pandemic, he added.

Central government has published guidelines on a phased reopening of schools but has left the decision to the respective state governments' discretion taking into cognizance of the pandemic's severity.
