No timeline for alliance, says MNM president

Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan on Wednesday reiterated that he and actor Rajinikanth would work together for the welfare of Tamil Nadu, but added that it would happen ‘only if the circumstances required it’.

A day after Rajinikanth endorsed his idea of joining hands ‘in the interest of the State’, the MNM president said that they would definitely come together but did not give a timeline for stitching an alliance.

“My friend Rajinikanth and I are of the same opinion that if need be, all hands should join for the sake of Tamil Nadu and we are no exception,” he told reporters here, “That is our attitude, we mean it. We have come here not just to do politics but to make a better Tamil Nadu,” the actor-politician told reporters at MNM office where he was greeted by his party office-bearers and cadres after being conferred with an honorary doctorate by a university in Odisha.

Ruling out any timeframe for them working together politically, Kamal said the positive thing (from the developments) was that there was an assurance they would work for Tamil Nadu. When asked if Rajinikanth would join his MNM, Kamal shot back saying it was not fair to pose such questions.
