In a video, controversial godman Nithyananda has ridiculed the police investigating new cases against his ashram, reports say.

Nithyananda hit the headlines after a period of calm when two of his aides were arrested in Gujarat for child trafficking earlier this week.

The godman is believed to have fled to the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago.

In the video, the godman reportedly says 'no one understands my Tamil and that's why cases are registered against me.'

He says the investigations against him are a tactic by the police to divert public attention from issues in Tamil Nadu.
