Petitioner Jegathalapradhapan from Madurai stated that Madurai Adheenam is 2,500 years old and currently Arunagirinadhar is serving as its 292nd head for the past 25 years. In the meantime, Nithyananda by entering Madurai Adheenam had forged documents and had announced himself as the head.

A case was already filed at the High Court against the announcement and the state government too had told the court that Nithyananda was not eligible to be appointed as the head of Madurai Adheenam. The court too ruled against Nithyananda and stayed his entry into the Adheenam.

When the petition was heard by Judge R Mahadevan he had extended the stay on Nithyananda from entering Madurai Adeenam till Dec 13.
