Namakkal: Worried over exam performance, Class 10 girl kills self

Police said Gnanamani from Rajarajan Nagar in Kumarapalayam and studying in Girls Higher Secondary School was depressed, as she didn’t write her quarterly examination properly.

COIMBATORE: A 15-year-old girl, studying in Class 10 had committed suicide by consuming rat paste in Namakkal as she didn’t perform well in the examination.

Police said Gnanamani from Rajarajan Nagar in Kumarapalayam and studying in Girls Higher Secondary School was depressed, as she didn’t write her quarterly examination properly.

Her parents, working in a powerloom unit, had consoled her.

Past midnight on September 29, Gnanamani consumed rat paste and informed her parents following bouts of vomiting.

She was immediately rushed to Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital.

However, she died without responding to treatment on Saturday night around 11.30 pm. The Kumarapalayam police have registered a case.
