Murdered girl's father seeks CB-CID probe

Even as the gruesome murder of Thilagavathi, a second year BA student in Cuddalore district, allegedly by her jilted lover, is fast obtaining a communal colour, the girl's father has moved the Madras High Court seeking to transfer the probe to the CB-CID police alleging that the local police is bent on protecting the accused.

Thilagavathi's father Sundaramurthy, a resident of Pazhavangkudi, submitted that he and his wife had gone for work on May 8. Upon returning from work with his brother-in-law around 5 pm, Sundaramurthy said he saw a youth ran out of the house in a state of panic.

“On rushing into the house, I saw my daughter lying in a pool of blood. She said a youth named Akash of Peralur had stabbed her and escaped.”

Though Thilagavathi was taken to the hospital, she was declared brought dead.

Thereafter, based on a complaint by Sundaramurthy’s brother-in-law the Karuveppilangkurichi police registered a case and arrested Akash.

“Since then the Inspector has failed to proceed with the case as per law and is working towards safeguarding the accused. Every step of the investigation is revealed by the Inspector on social media."

"Moreover, the inspector has started a negative campaign against my daughter by spreading falsehood about her conduct online,” Sundaramurthy contended.

Further on noting that his daughter's killing was well planned, he submitted in his plea that two others were waiting on a bike in front of the house when Akash murdered his daughter.

“Despite being informed about it, the police inspector has ignored all these aspects and was acting in a lackadaisical manner,” he said.

Based on this, Sundaramurthy sought for a direction to abstain Karuvelankurichi police from probing into the murder any further and instead hand over the same to the CB-CID.

His plea is likely to come up before the vacation bench onWednesday.
