Addressing the media, on Saturday, Bhalaji said, “We are planning to increase the procurement price of milk from farmers and it is still under consideration. But the decision to increase the selling price has not yet been discussed. We will remain sensitive to the issues concerning the people and if there is any such hike in price, it will be announced by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.”

June 1 is observed as World Milk Day to recognise the importance of milk as a global product. On World Milk Day, a programme was organised by Aavin in Nandanam and on the side-lines of the function, the Dairy Minister said that even the hike in procurement price will be announced officially by the Chief Minister.

When asked whether products like curd rice and tamarind rice which are sold in other parts of the State will be brought to Chennai, Bhalaji replied that Aavin is planning to introduce many dairy products including new curd varieties to Chennai and the announcement would be made shortly. “We will introduce the dairy products in a few days,” he said.
