Major organs of brain dead man in Tirunelveli hospital donated

The donor was identified as Manthiramurthy Nainar, who in a native of Pudukulam village near Sathankulam of Thoothukudi district.

MADURAI: Major organs including liver, kidneys, cornea and skin of a 50-year-old man, who had been declared brain dead in Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospital, were donated to the needy in a few hospitals.

The donor was identified as Manthiramurthy Nainar, who in a native of Pudukulam village near Sathankulam of Thoothukudi district.

Earlier, Nainar, who worked in a timber depot, met with an accident while he was on his way to Thisayanvilai on October 10.

He suffered head injuries and was admitted to Thisayanvilai Primary Health Centre before being referred to Tirunelveli GH. Nainar was declared brain dead and his family agreed to donate his organs.

After conducting a post-mortem, the administration of Tirunelveli GH paid homage to the departed soul, sources said.
