Krishna water board meeting in Hyderabad today

A meeting of a committee of the Krishna Water Management Board will be held in Hyderabad on Wednesday to discuss issues relating to supply of water from the upper riparian states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra for ensuring the allotted quota of 15 tmc ft of Krishna water to Chennai for drinking water purposes.

Besides the Central Water Commission (CWC), the Committee comprises Engineer-in-Chief of Water Resources Department from the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.  


The Committee, under the chairmanship of the Chairman of Krishna Water Management Board constituted in 2018 at the instance of the Southern Zonal Council under the Home Ministry, is to evolve a mechanism for accounting the flows to be supplied by the four states as per their shares under the Inter-State agreements so as to realise the agreed quantities of water at AP-TN border.
