Katankulathur Councillor commits suicide

A 60-year-old Katankulathur Union Councillor committed suicide in his house since he couldn’t attend the Union Council meeting due to health issues on Friday.

The deceased Vijayakumar of Rathinamangalam near Vandalur was elected as the Union Councilor of Kattankulathur.

Police said Vijayakumar became ill a few days ago and was admitted to a private hospital in Porur. Though he got discharged from the hospital the doctors advised Vijayakumar to rest in the house.

Following that Vijayakumar was dejected that he couldn’t attend the Union Council meeting which was scheduled on Friday. Every day he used to say that he has disappointed the people who voted for him as he couldn’t even attend this important meeting.

On Friday morning Vijayakumar’s son noticed his father was hanging in the ceiling using a rope and immediately he rushed Vijayakumar to a nearby private hospital but there he was declared brought dead. On information, the Thalambur police who visited the spot sent the body for post-mortem to the Chengalpattu GH and a case has been registered.
