Karur police arrest youngsters, seize 10 bikes for creating ruckus

Around 10 bikes were racing at Vengamedu overbridge and the police stopped them. But, the youngsters continued to race bikes and argued with the police.

TIRUCHY: In view of freedom fighter Immanuel Sekaran’s 66th death anniversary a section of youngsters created ruckus on the main junction in Karur on Monday. They were arrested by the police and their two-wheelers were seized as they sped on them.

The death anniversary of freedom fighter and civil rights activist Immanuel Sekaran was observed across the state, a section of youngsters from Karur, who came by a procession to garland the portrait of the leader located near the bus stand, made ruckus by reportedly threatening the by standers along the road with their bikes. They sped by holding the flags and created tension among the people as well as the police who were on security duty.

After a while, around 10 bikes were racing at Vengamedu overbridge and the police stopped them. But, the youngsters continued to race bikes and argued with the police.

Subsequently, more police personnel rushed to the spot and prevented their movement. However, the youngsters attempted to argue with the police again.

Later, Vengamedu inspector Saravanan, who rushed to the spot, seized around 10 bikes for over speeding. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
