Justin Antony, a renowned quiz master and a motivational speaker from Chinnathura coastal village in Kanniyakumari district, had recently proposed an innovation in quiz competition. He had titled his innovation as National Knowledge Olympiad (NKO).

He said, “Man’s brain evolves every day as years pass by. This brings in constant change in science, education, politics, sports and cinema. To tackle these, new concepts are needed and he has come out with one called NKO. This has scope of testing the general knowledge of the students in a wider area, he said.

“According to the new concept, there will be a series of two preliminary tests. Of the total number of teams appearing, top 5 teams will be chosen for the main round of NKO. While two students per team will appear at the preliminary stage. As many as 10 students will be part of a team.

In the main round there will be five separate rounds on five different subjects and all 10 students who are expert in each of the subjects will appear for the round. The main round will test the complete knowledge of a team and the winners will be truly knowledgeable said Antony.

Justin Antony had explained the new concept to UNESCO in New Delhi to its representative Dr. Huma Masood, UNESCO officer in the Cluster Office for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, and she had appreciated his efforts. She had also assured that she would take the initiative to the international stage and help in its implementation worldwide, said Antony. Justin was honoured by UN for his social work and had conducted in various international countries such as Qatar on UN International Day.
