In a tweet, the actor-politician said that several villages in Tamil Nadu lack mobile phone networks as well as internet connectivity. “During the lockdown, children in villages could not continue online classes. They have been denied the basic right of education. I understand the need of our ‘digital homes’ scheme,” he added.
Recently, Kamal Haasan, in his economic agenda for the state, had said that the government led by MNM would provide a computer along with high speed internet through optical fibre cable to each and every home in the state as a common property resource by implementing the BharatNet and TamilNet projects.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan returned to Chennai on Thursday after completing his third round of election campaign from Madurai.
While speaking to the reporters, he said that he would meet actor Rajinikanth, who dropped the plan of launching a political party a few days ago.
“I will meet him (Rajinikanth) based on friendship. The support that the people give during the campaigns is encouraging,” Kamal said.
