Jayalalithaa’s hospital footage released on social media

A 20-second video of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa sipping from a disposable juice cup was released by P Vetrivel, who is rallying for TTV Dhinakaran, is expected to create ripples in the political arena as every party in the state is vying to empathise with Jayalalithaa.

Vetrivel claimed that he had released the video without the consent of VK Sasikala and Dhinakaran.

"I am witness to what Sasikala is undergoing now, and also to the hordes of false charges targeting her. The ruling dispensation had brought disrepute to Jayalalithaa by questioning her natural death. And therefore, out of my own volition, I had released this video. It was taken when Jayalalithaa was moved to the normal ward from the critical care unit," Vetrivel said.

In an apparent reference to DMK working president MK Stalin's attempts to invoke Jayalalithaa during the poll campaign, Vetrivel said he had been prompted to release the video to pull all false claims in Jayalalithaa's death. He also claimed sole responsibility for the release.

He added that he had received the video from Sasikala on the condition that he won't release it. "I had to break it and am willing to face its consequences, " he said.
