The Inspector, Krishnaraj, had demanded Rs.15,000 from a contractor named Raja, for proving No Objection Certificate(NOC) for 34 workers to work in Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plants(KKNPP).

As NOC from Police was mandatory for security reasons Inspector had demanded the amount to issue the certificate for the workers. Raja had in turn contacted the District Vigilance officials and based on their instructions he had given amount to Inspector to the tune of Rs 15,000 with rupee notes coated with chemical powder.

When the Inspector received the amount the Vigilance Policemen who were hiding at the Police station caught the Inspector red-handed and arrested him.
