On the first day, Noor Muhammed, 60, came dressed as a clown to file his nomination to contest as an independent. There was no dearth of entertainment during his visit to the Sulur Tahsildar office as he came crawling on the office premises to file nomination.

It was not long ago that Noor, came riding a horse to file his nominations for the Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency. He then came so to highlight the message with sarcasm that once elected, politicians presume to become kings as in the past going around on a horse.

This time around, Noor intends to send a message that politicians behave like clowns once they win the elections.

“I was elected a councillor for Coimbatore corporation when I contested alone as an independent in 1997. Since then I filed nominations to contest unsuccessfully in various elections,” he told reporters. This is his 31st time to file nomination in any election.  He claimed to have contested as an independent in Tiruvarur, RK Nagar, Madurai West, Thirumangalam and Tiruchy constituencies.

Likewise, another independent L Kathiresan, 46, a cloth merchant and propaganda secretary of Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement filed his nomination. He too had contested for the post of Mayor in Tirupur district in 2011, Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 and also in Srirangam and RK Nagar Assembly segments.
