Katpadi revenue officials including the flying squad tahsildar were checking vehicles on the Chittoor road when an omni van with Andhra Pradesh registration plates rushed towards the border area. 

On suspicion, the vehicle was stopped by the officials, following which the driver parked the vehicle and took to his vehicles. On inspection of the vehicle, the officials found 1000 kilos of PDS (public distribution system) rice, 40 kilos wheat and five big sacks of gutkha, which is banned in the state. 

While the rice and the wheat were handed over to the Tiruvalam civil supplies godown, the gutkha was seized by the local food security officials. The vehicle was seized by the Katpadi police. 

Investigations are underway to discover from where the food supplies and the banned gutkha were being transported and the delivery location.
