Maniaarpaalayam Panchayat consisting of seven villages has been struggling for two days without water. The villagers losing hope on authorities, blocked a government bus in nearby a Co-operative bank.

The transformer in the Panchayat was heavily damaged after thunderstorms hammered the place before two days. Consequently, the villages lost electricity and the motor taking water from wells to storage tanks also became defunct. The villagers were forced to fetch water from catchments placed afar from each other.

After police held talks and assured immediate replacement of transformer and interim arrangement of generators, the villagers let go of the bus.
