Jina Kanchi Jain Math, located in Sidhamur of Gingee is considered as one of the primary religious centers of the Tamil Jain community. It is also the headquarters of Digambara sect of Jains.

A 65-year old Jain sanyasin, named Subramath Prabavathi Mathaji, who visited the math 1.5 months ago to attain 'Jeeva Samadhi' is said to have started the process for the same recently. 

It was claimed that the sanyasin is undergoing complete fasting for the 4th consecutive day, beginning from April 27. Several devotees and public throng the math to seek her blessings.

Also, the math is said to have made arrangements for cremation and rituals for the sanyasini, after she attains her self- imposed 'Jeeva samadhi' state.
