Gag order in place for mandram members

Members of the Rajini Makkal Mandram have been forbidden from airing personal views on current issues in the state through any of the official district Twitter accounts of the organisation.

Chief coordinator VM Sudhakar has issued directives that prohibit the expressing of personal thoughts by members, including the office-bearers. The move is seen as a step to avert unnecessary attention in the absence of Rajinikanth, who is away shooting for an upcoming movie directed by Karthik Subbaraj.

Sudhakar is also said to have stated that the information wing of the organisation is not to speak of any internal matters relating to the organisation to the public or to the press. The gag order is aimed at reducing speculation as the Rajini Makkal Mandram has been plagued by recent rumours that state secretary Raju Mahalingam had been asked to step down. Raju Mahalingam dismissed the speculation as false.

Rajinikanth declared his intention to enter politics in December 31 last year. Since his announcement, the fan clubs of Rajinikanth across the state have been organised under a nodal body, the Rajini Makkal Mandram.
