Flying squads constituted to prevent the transportation of unaccounted money are still maintaining a vigil as the counting of votes will happen only on May 23.

Sources said a team of officials was checking vehicles at the Kolakudi junction in Tiruvannamalai town, when they stopped and checked the car belonging to one Mangilal (44) of Virudhachalam. They found Rs 8.40 lakh cash inside. Though Mangilal claimed the money was meant for a business transaction, he did not have documents to support his claim. Hence, the money was seized and handed over to the district treasury, housed at the taluk office in Tiruvannamalai, sources added.
