According to the police, the accused, Siranjeevi of Kollimalai, had taken his two children, Giridas (8) and Kavidarshini (5) to Seekuparai view point near Semmedu on November 8 and thrown them into the gorge.

The police said Siranjeevi’s wife, Bakkiyam (24), had left him to stay with her parents at Kavarapatty along with her two children due to family issues a few months ago. On November 7, Siranjeevi had visited his in-laws’ house and convinced them to send his two children with him. As the children later did not turn up for school, Bakkiyam and her parents attempted to contact Siranjeevi, who, however, remained out of reach.

Based on a complaint, the Vazhavanthinadu took Siranjeevi into custody, and inquiries revealed that he brutally murdered the children by throwing them into the gorge. On Wednesday, the fire and rescue services personnel recovered the decomposed bodies of the children. The accused was arrested and investigations are on to check if anyone else was involved in the crime.
