Facebook friend held for kidnapping and raping 13-year-old girl

The Tirupur City Police on Monday arrested a 21-year-old youth for allegedly kidnapping a 13-year-old girl from the city, taking her to Puducherry, raping her in a lodge there and abandoning her. The police said that the girl was a resident of an area under the jurisdiction of Tirupur North Police Station.

The girl studying 8th standard in a nearby school used to use Facebook and became a friend of the accused Ibrahim (21) of Tirupur New Bus Stand area. The two started talking over phone and a few days ago the girl went missing. Unable to trace her the parents lodged a complaint with the police.

While the parents were unaware of the turn of events the girl returned home on April 29. The parents took her to the police, when she narrated the ordeal that she underwent. The girl told the police that Ibrahim took her to a lodge at Puducherry, raped her, abandoned her there before he fled the place.

The police quoted the girl as saying that the owner of the lodge who realized her plight also tried to sexually abuse her. But the girl managed to escape and reach Tirupur. 

The police booked the youth for kidnap and under sections of the Indian Penal Code and arrested him on Monday. A special team went to Puducherry to arrest the owner of the lodge.
