Ex-HC judge to oversee MJDMA poll

The Madras High Court (MHC) has directed the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to appoint a retired judge of the MHC as an Election Officer to oversee the poll for the Executive Committee’s office of the Madras Jewellers & Diamond Merchants’ Association (MJDMA).

A division bench, comprising Justices R Subramanian and C Saravanan, offered the direction based on the memo filed by the members seeking to hold the elections to the office of the Executive Committee immediately under the directions of the Chennai bench of NCLT. It also held that the Election Officer shall be assisted by a independent Company Secretary during the process.
