EPS invites Tesla to set up shop in Tamil Nadu

At a time when e-vehicle production and sales have picked up in the State, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami visited the Tesla plant in San Francisco and invited the company management of the automobile giant to invest in Tamil Nadu.

According to an official statement from the State government, the Chief Minister, who is on a investment tour to the US and the UK, visited the Tesla plant to learn the technique of manufacturing electric cars and ways to prevent vehicular pollution in the State. He was also explained about the charging points setup by Tesla at various places for easy recharge of electric cars.


Sources in the know of the visit of EPS confirmed that his visit to the Tesla plant was in the itinerary of the Chief Minister’s tour as he was keen on inviting an automobile giant like Tesla, an expert in manufacturing electric cars. During the visit, a presentation was also made on behalf of the Chief Minister about the facilities for investing in automobile sector in the State and the incentives offered by the State for the automobile sector.


After his visit to Tesla, the Chief Minister visited Bloom Energy, an expert in renewable energy and discussed about renewable energy production with the already installed resources and infrastructure in the State. Bloom Energy is the leader in manufacturing Solid Oxide Fuel Cells and Chief Minister was explained about the importance of the cell.


Later in the day, EPS had a meeting with some of the leading entrepreneurs in the US including Krish Panu, MD, Point Guard Ventures, Sridhar Vembu, CEO of Zoho, Ganesh V Iyer, CIO of NIO, Raj Sardana, Founding President, American Cyber Systems, and invited them to invest in the state.
