As part of Bon jour India , an ongoing intiative to take forward the partnership between India and France to the next level, ‘Easy Ride’, a proposal dedicated to smart and sustainable mobility has been conceptualised.

Easy Ride is a project that serves to foster creative Indo-French collaborations on smart and sustainable mobility, born out of a partnership between FranceCol Technology, a French SME, and Veltech University in Chennai. This has led to the creation of an innovative electric bicycle engine due to the support of Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advance Research (CEFIPRA). Dr Bertrand de Hartingh, Curator General, Bonjour India said, “Going green can be done in easy steps, like riding a bike.

We,  through Easy Ride, want to communicate and demonstrate the change that these small steps towards smart mobility and sustainability will bring in.” FranceCol Technology has developed a embedded wheel motor project, which enables the electrification any bicycle, motorcycle or wheel chair, without any structural modification.

The e-bike will be demonstrated Sin Puducherry’s Marine Street on January 25. Meanwhile, as a prelude  to the demonstration, a hackathon was held at Veltech University on Monday, with around 150 engineering and design students competing in a Prototyping Challenge on the theme of smart and sustainable mobility.
