Early morning fire in a Virudhunagar firecracker outlet

Fire charred a cracker shop owned by Vetrivel in Virudhunagar's Vallimill during the wee hours of Thursday.

The shop was closed for three months owing to the pandemic lockdown.

Reason cited for the incident was a faulty lamp post nearby.

Fire billowed with a plume of smoke enveloping the area, the timely measures of the firemen saved the day.

Things would've gone above head if not for the timeliness of the firemen as they controlled and doused the fire before it could reach the petrol station nearby.

The loss because of this fire accounted to Rs 3 lakhs.
