CHENNAI: In the wake of the Election Commission of India releasing the draft electoral roll, after the conduct of Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the ruling DMK has convened a meeting of its district secretaries to discuss the issue on Sunday.

The virtual meeting will be held on Sunday at 6 pm and will be chaired by the party president and Chief Minister MK Stalin. In a statement issued on Saturday, DMK general secretary Duraimurugan said the agenda would focus on activities related to the verification of the draft electoral roll.

He said district secretaries had been instructed to bring together Members of Parliament, MLAs, party office bearers and constituency observers during the meeting to ensure coordinated action in the verification process.

The DMK has criticised the manner in which voters were removed from the electoral roll and said it had launched a door-to-door verification drive under the campaign titled “My Booth Victory Booth” to cross-check the draft list and assist voters.
