DMK feigns ‘no enemies’ line amid public ire, claims Nainar

Alleging governance failure, betrayal of poll promises and a breakdown of law and order, while asserting that the NDA in the State remained strong, cohesive and open to all political forces committed to Tamil Nadu's welfare, Nainar told reporters at Kamalalayam, TN BJP headquarters, that CM Stalin's repeated claim that he had no enemies rang hollow.

CHENNAI: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday alleged that it's not true that the ruling DMK fears no enemies in a poll year; on the contrary, the Stalin-led regime is scared of people's anger.

"The Chief Minister may say he has no enemies, but the people of Tamil Nadu are clearly against his government,"

"The Chief Minister may say he has no enemies, but the people of Tamil Nadu are clearly against his government," he said.

Referring to the party's internal matters, he said former BJP state president K Annamalai had already clarified issues related to Assembly constituency in-charges (reneging on his role) and accused sections of the media of spreading misinformation.

Accusing the DMK of reneging on its 2021 manifesto promises, he recalled that the party had assured time-scale pay, job security and wage revision for noon-meal workers. "Nothing has been delivered. This is the DMK's pattern, promises made, promises broken," he alleged.

He said that cleanliness workers had been pacified only after sustained protests, while the same uncertainty is now seen among secondary-grade teachers. Drawing a contrast with the past, he said, "When he was in the Opposition, the present Chief Minister would rush to seek justice. Today, as his term nears its end, he resorts to arrests and harassment."

The BJP leader urged the government to immediately address the demands of agitating employees, including the restoration of the old pension scheme. He alleged that the DMK had misled the JACTO-GEO with assurances of implementing an assured pension by next month.

He also flagged rising drug abuse and alleged insecurity for migrant workers. "Ganja was found with a Class 11 student this morning. There is no law and order. I am neither an enemy nor a rival of the Chief Minister; his administration is simply not functioning," he said.

On alliances, Nainar Nagenthran said the NDA was gaining support from social organisations across communities and predicted that the DMK-led front would unravel. "Our alliance is strong. Anyone who genuinely wants to work for Tamil Nadu is welcome," he said.

He added that candidate selection in the BJP would be decided by the party leadership and reiterated that issues related to O Panneerselvam or potential allies like the DMDK would be decided by respective leaders and the NDA's national leadership.
