According to police, Chandrasekar (36), the party’s Pollachi west union secretary, was returning from Malumichampatty on Monday night along with his friend Senthil Kumar (36) and R Kishore, a college student, when their car crashed into a median.

While nearing Kallakattupudur around midnight, Chandrasekar, who was driving, lost control and rammed the car into the median. In the impact, the car toppled over and Kishore died on the spot. The two others, who suffered critical injuries, were rushed to hospital.

However, Chandrasekar was declared brought dead, while Senthil Kumar has been sent to CMCH for further treatment. A post-mortem was performed on the deceased and handed over to their family members onTuesday. Chandrasekar is survived by his wife, six-year-old son and two-year-old daughter. The Kinathukadavu police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
