“Lockdown is in force in the State and every district Collector should implement the guidelines strictly. If district Collectors wish to introduce any relaxations, they should do only after obtaining proper direction from Chief Secretary, K Shanmugam”, he said. Palaniswami, through video-conferencing, briefed the Collectors about the steps taken by the government to contain COVID-19. He also directed them to monitor migrant workers carefully.

As the lockdown is scheduled to end on Sunday, will hold a meeting with expert committee constituted by the State government, on Saturday. Based on the opinion, the State will announce a decision on lockdown.
