VMS Musthafa, founder-president, TNML, submitted a petition to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Satyabrata Sahoo, stating that Muniyandi’s name figures in voters list in two polling booths. “This is illegal. Hence, his candidature should not be accepted.”

Speaking to newspersons after submitting the petition, Musthafa said, “Muniyandi suppressed the fact that he had two voter ID cards in his affidavit. This is a violation according to the election rules. The ECI should intervene and should disqualify him immediately.” According to Musthafa, Muniyandi’s name figures in both Perungudi and Avaniyapuram polling booths. “I have attached the photo copies of the voters list in the two booths. It is the ECI’s duty to take action on the AIADMK candidate,” he said.

Along with Tiruparankundram, three other constituencies including Sulur, Aravakurichi and Ottapidaram are facing bypolls. The process of filing nomination papers has ended, with the ECI having also finalised the list of candidates contesting in each constituency.
