In a meeting held at Vedasandur in Dindigul district on Saturday, Sreenivasan praised the work of Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai. He said that Thambidurai is on a whirlwind tour of meeting people in various places and he would come to Vedasandur too. 

“After meeting you, he will collect your grievances and will submit to Prime Minister Narasimha Rao in New Delhi,” said Sreenivasan. Supporters and the party functionaries were flummoxed at the mention of Narasimha Rao as the Prime Minister of India and started murmuring. 

Even state Minister for Health and Family Welfare C Vijaya Baskar, who was present on the dais was seen in a perplexed state whether to correct Sreenivasan on his mistake or to remain silent like others. However, he chose the latter and continued to listen to the speech. 

Sreenivasan, who is known for his loose talks, is not creating controversy for the first time by calling the former Prime Ministers as current Prime Ministers. Earlier, on October 28, last year, Sreenivasan called Manmohan Singh as the current Prime Minister.

He was also the first Minister to publicly admit that former chief minister J Jayalalithaa did not eat idly, as claimed by the Ministers and party functionaries when she was admitted in the hospital and openly apologised to the public and party supporters for lying to them.
