Deepak opposes Dinakaran’s elevation

Speaking to the media on Thursday, he said “As Jayalalithaa’s niece and nephew, Deepa Jayakumar and I have the right to occupy posts now being given to Sasikala’s relatives. Though I was not against Sasikala, I am against Dinakaran.”

In a surprise shift in his stand, Deepak came out in support of ex-chief minister O Panneerselvam for the post of CM. “I feel that OPS was a good Chief Minister,” he said and added “The warring groups in the party must come together and the party must not split.”

However, he took a dig at OPS supporters for celebrating the verdict against Sasikala by saying, “It was not good as it is against Jayalalithaa too.” Talking about his sister Deepa’s political career, he said “It will not work out.”

Commenting on the doubts around his aunt’s treatment, Deepak said, “I have no issues with the treatment given to Jayalalithaa at Apollo Hospital as she had been treated by a team of doctors from AIIMS, New Delhi, Singapore and UK.”

On the Poes Garden property owned by Jayalalithaa, Deepak said, “Deepa and me are the legal heirs, it belongs to us.” He also said that despite not having sufficient funds, he would try to pay the Rs. 100 crore fine by selling off his possessions.
