Customs officials seize gold plates weighing 349 gm from air passenger

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) sleuths of Customs Department on Sunday seized gold plates of 24 carat purity weighing 349 grams from an air passenger at Tiruchy International Airport.

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) sleuths of Customs Department on Sunday seized gold plates of 24 carat purity weighing 349 grams from an air passenger at Tiruchy International Airport. 

The official sources said, the AIU sleuths seized the gold plates concealed in a coffee grinder from Logidoss (24), hailing from Pudukottai district during the customs clearance after he arrived here from Sharjah by an Air India Express aircraft. The seized yellow metal was valued at Rs 13.28 lakh. 

The passenger was detained for further investigation.
