In a statement here, CPM secretary Rajangam said there is mystery in the death of Vimal Kumar, which is stated as a suicide and said that this happened due to pressure from senior officials. He said newspaper reports were there that the Inspector of Police Kalaichelvan pressurised Vimal Kumar to collect ‘Mamool’ and give it to him and also to hide a recent rape case at Nettapakkam. He said some senior police officials are functioning against the law and below par dignity. An inquiry by the CB-CID will never be able to have an impartial inquiry and bring out the truth in the death of Vimal Kumar. Hence, an inquiry by a sitting judge is needed, Rajangam said.

It may be noted that Vimal Kumar, Sub-inspector of police attached to the Nettapakkam police station allegedly committed suicide by hanging inside the nearby police quarters recently.
