CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Congress has welcomed the decision of the State government to reject permission for the rally of RSS on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti.

Congress legislature party leader K Selvaperunthagai, in a statement, said that it was laudable that Tamil Nadu government has declined permission for the RSS rally on the ground that it would unleash violence and disturb public order in the pretext of peace rally in the State, which is a haven of peace.

The daring decision made by Chief Minister M K Stalin at the appropriate time for Tamil Nadu and the safety of its people is highly laudable, Selvaperunthangai added.

Stating that several courageous decisions were taken against communal forces since the days of former chief minister M Karunanidhi, the Congress legislature party leader thanked the Chief Minister for being an extension of the same. Other allies of the DMK, mainly the Left parties and Thol Thirumavalavan’s Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) also backed the government’s decision to prevent the RSS rally.
