CM to meet medical experts, Collectors on Aug 29

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami would hold separate discussions with medical experts and district Collectors on August 29 to decide whether or not lockdown should be extended beyond the end of the month. Resuming public transport and the fate of e-pass system could also be discussed during the meetings, sources said.

“As the general lockdown ends on August 31 and August 30 being a Sunday (when the State will be under total shutdown), the Chief Minister will hold meetings with both district Collectors and medical experts on the same day to take a decision on extending the general lockdown,” said Secretariat sources.

Chief Minister Palaniswami is undertaking a short trip to delta districts till August 28 to review COVID-19 works. Following the trip, Chief Minister will hold two meetings on the same day. “The Chief Minister will hold meeting with district Collectors on Saturday morning and with medical experts in the afternoon,” said sources.

“Issue of doing away with e-pass system and resuming public transport will be the two major issues that are likely to be discussed in both the meetings,” add sources. Under the latest guidelines for unlock, the Centre gave approval to resume Metro Rail services.
