The evaluation, especially of Class 12 answer sheets, assumes significance as the students are writing the test based on the new syllabus that is considered to be tougher than the earlier one.

The examination for Class 12 that commenced on March 2 would go on till March 24, with more than eight lakh students appearing for it.

A senior official from the directorate told DT Next that the answer sheets would be transported from respective zones, shuffled and then be taken to evaluation camps amid tight security.

It was already moved in the case of language papers, while the rest would be done by the end of the month. They would be evaluated under the supervision of officials from the directorate. Once evaluation is completed for a particular subject, the answer scripts would be immediately uploaded on the same day.

“This year, the security measures have been enhanced for the safe transportation of answer scripts from various places to the evaluation camp,” he said. To strengthen security, CCTV cameras would be installed at evaluation centres, which would be monitored by the officials at the headquarters in Chennai.

Uploading answer sheets of all the subjects would be done from April 2 to April 15, and the CD containing the answer sheet data would be handed over to the head of the directorate. “The results will be announced on April 24 as per schedule,” he added.
