It is said, AIADMK MLA Parameswari’s husband Murugan had submitted his papers for the ward no 4 at (Valaiyur). He has been eyeing the union chairman post and has been spending around Rs 16 lakh for ‘securing’ the same.

When the DMK and other political parties’ workers filed their papers and started their campaign, a shocked Murugan approached the village heads and requested them to prevent the opposition parties from campaigning.

On learning this, the DMK and other party candidates lodged a complaint with the BDO Rajendran who referred the complaint to the Siruganur police station. The petition also sought the AIADMK candidate Murugan should not campaign in his favour and planned to prevent his campaign in their ward. They also warned that they would never allow him to campaign. Meanwhile, the Siruganur police registered a case against Murugan and also forwarded the proceedings to the District Election Officer and Collector S Sivarasu.
