Boy falls off 5th floor in Madurai mall, hurt

A seven-year-old boy fell down accidentally from the fifth floor of a shopping mall, located along Thiruparankundram road, near Algappa Nagar in Madurai on Tuesday.

The injured victim has been identified as M Nithish, resident of Vaidyanathapuram near SS Colony, sources said. Subramaniapuram police inspected the spot and held inquiries. Preliminary inquiries revealed that the boy along with his mother and relatives went to the mall for shopping ahead of the festivities. The boy mistakenly placed his hand on the rolling handrail of the escalator and subsequently was pulled into a side gap of the escalator. Probe is on.
