Balaji Srivastava takes charge as new DGP of Puducherry

Balaji Srivastava assumed office as the new Director General of Police (DGP) Puducherry on Wednesday.

Senior police officials welcomed him at the police headquarters on his arrival and guard of honour was presented by the armed police force to him.


The new DGP called on Lt Governor Kiran Bedi and Chief Minister V Narayanasamy at their respective offices. The Lt Governor in a WhatsApp message later said that Srivastava is an officer of outstanding reputation and would ensure upholding of the law without fear or favour. Very good days are ahead for law enforcement in Puducherry, she said and urged the full cooperation of the public to Srivastava.


His priorities are very clear, Bedi said, adding that he would not tolerate land grabbing, rowdyism, extortion and any organized crime.


Law breakers in traffic be prepared to be law abiding, the Lt Governor cautioned.
