Addressing an election rally in the district, the Chief Minister said that a separate welfare board will ensure a higher growth rate for the poultry sector. “Majority of the people in Namakkal are involved in poultry business. The welfare board will work towards improving the sector and help the poultry farmers achieve even more profit. Their issues can also be represented through the members of the board so that those can be resolved,” he said while campaigning for AIADMK candidate P Kaliappan.

Further, Palaniswami said that the AIADMK has been implementing all the welfare projects announced by former Chief Minister Late J Jayalalithaa. “However, DMK leader MK Stalin has been making unrealistic announcements. Whatever the AIADMK has promised in their manifesto will be implemented with the help of the central government,” Palaniswami said.

Listing out a few incidents of violence and misuse of power involving DMK workers, Palaniswami questioned Stalin’s failure to take any action against them. Further, he took a dig at the DMK chief for seeking votes by targeting him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other alliance leaders instead of listing out the projects implemented during their reign.

“While the Congress and the DMK were in power at the Centre and in the state, they did nothing for the welfare of the people. All their focus was on family welfare than that of the people,” the Chief Minister said.

Stating that the AIADMK government will strive for the implementation of Godavari-Cauvery linking project, Palaniswami said that ponds and lakes will be filled with this water to enrich the lives of the farmers. The Chief Minister also criticised the Opposition parties of forging what he called an opportunistic alliance.
