Allow work from home: govt school teachers

With the scare of coronavirus looming large, nearly three lakh teachers in the State-run schools, who were asked to be present in the non-functional institutions, have urged the State government to allow them to work from home.

In an earlier petition to the School Education Department, teachers had demanded that the authorities declare holidays for the staff as well, as was done in the case of students, as part of precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. However, now the teachers have requested the authorities to issue orders to at least allow them to work from home, as part of ensuring their safety, especially with the government “failing to take adequate steps to sanitise all the schools”.
