CHENNAI: Responding to the rivals, Union Minister of State L Murugan clarified that BJP president JP Nadda's words on AIIMS Madurai works were misinterpreted for political gains.

The minister said Nadda was talking about the 'initial' works of AIIMS and not the construction of the building.

Murugan's clarification came as a rejoinder to Congress' Virudhunagar MP Manickam Tagore, who posted a video at the AIIMS Madurai site, saying JP Nadda's claims about the premier medical institution's construction was a 'lie'. Tagore holding a placard "Where is 95 per cent complete AIIMS building?" in an apparent dig at Nadda who said 95 per cent of AIIMS Madurai construction was complete.
