CHENNAI: AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has convened a meeting of district secretaries on December 31 to review and accelerate preparations for the upcoming Assembly elections, which are just three months away in Tamil Nadu.

The party has already held meetings of its IT wing, zonal in-charges, general council and executive committee. The first phase of receiving applications of interest from aspirants seeking party tickets was conducted from December 15 to 23, and the AIADMK has extended the deadline for submitting applications until December 31.

With key organisational tasks such as forming booth committees and enrolling new members completed, Palaniswami will use the meeting to assess the status of booth-level structures across districts and the efforts taken to include voters who might have been left out during the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll.

He is also expected to direct each district secretary to recommend four eligible candidates for consideration in the party’s poll lineup. Further, Palaniswami will urge the district leadership to intensify ground-level mobilisation and focus entirely on securing a strong victory in the upcoming polls, without being distracted by alliance-related issues at this stage.
