Against political trend Vijayakant supports NEET 

At the time when all the major Dravidian parties, including the DMK and AIADMK are opposing the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the DMDK is the first major party to support NEET in the state as the party founder Vijayakant, said that the test brings uniformity in education across the country.

Vijayakant, in a statement, said, “NEET has uniform syllabus, uniform question paper and uniform evaluation and so it is acceptable by all. The uniformity will improve the educational standards of the students.”


Vijayakant appreciated the NEET toppers in the state and said that students of Tamil Nadu have topped in NEET exam.  He said that NEET has enabled poor students to get admittedin medical colleges in largenumbers.


“Medicine seats were accessible only to rich students, but now NEET has made MBBS available to poor students too. Everything should not be seen as politics and the future of the students should also be taken under consideration,” said Vijayakant.


He also demanded the state government to give proper training to students to excel in NEET. “Students of Tamil Nadu are extremely talented and if additional training is given to them more number of students from the state will get selected in NEET,” said Vijayakant.


He further said that DMDK will not accept any scheme that is against the interests of the students, but NEET is beneficial to students and when students have accepted the exam, Tamil Nadu government should encourage more number of students and there is no doubt that large number of students from the state will get selected in NEET, he added.
