The district administration lifted the ban allowing tourists to visit the water falls. The tourists were allowed to take bath in the falls and take up massage services. Coracle rides were also permitted from Chinnar to Kothikal main falls by following the safety precautions. On the first day, there was just a minimal number of tourists and mostly local residents visited the falls. However, tourists from across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states are expected to surge during the ‘puja’ holidays this weekend. The falls remained shut due to lock down following COVID-19 pandemic forcing hundreds of oarsmen and other workers jobless for the past several months.
