Accused in 103 sovereign gold theft case held in Coimbatore

Police have nabbed the accused, identified as Krishnamurthy, and further inquiry is under way.

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police on Thursday secured an accused in connection with the house break-in and loot of 103 sovereigns of gold jewels at BK Pudur near Kuniyamuthur.

When R Jeba Martin (56), had gone to her native Thoothukudi district for a funeral, the burglar broke into her house and decamped with jewels on 24 December.

She works as a teacher in a private school. Based on a complaint, the Kuniyamuthur police registered a case, and preliminary inquiries revealed that the burglar entered the house using a duplicate key.

Police have nabbed the accused, identified as Krishnamurthy, and further inquiry is under way.
